ACCESSIBILITY
Accessibility at Pride is very important to us.
We’re committed to accessibility at the event, each year we work to improve provisions to make East Coast Pride accessible for all.
East Coast Pride is held primarily on Grand Parade in Skegness which is a closed carriageway. Additional areas include Tower Gardens, Tower Esplanade, The Hildreds Centre and Compass Gardens which are all accessible for wheelchairs and persons with limited mobility.
You can find more information about the measures we have put in place to make the event as accessible as possible below.
Any questions, specific access requirements, concerns or general feedback email us on hello@eastcoastpride.co.uk. We aim to get back to you within 5 working days.
Site Description
The East Coast Pride site is all concrete or tarmacked areas. The Family & Wellbeing Zone is in the Tower Garden which is a grassed area of parkland.
The whole site has level access however, some areas of the site may have slight slopes, ruts, raised curbs, and bumps. If you need any help or support with these areas please speak to one of our volunteers.
There are no doors or gates to open to enter the site or around East Coast Pride apart from the public toilets provided by the Council. There are accessible toilets at each toilet block accessed by radar key locks.
Accessible Parking
There is no general on-site parking at East Coast Pride, but all the roads around the site offer time-bound free parking, with limited on-road disabled parking.
Blue badge holders can park in the local council-run car parks. All car parks are in close proximity to the site and offer level access.
Accessible Toilets
Every toilet block around the site, including Tower Gardens, North Parade, Tower Esplanade, Hildreds Centre and the Train Station have accessible toilets.
These are council-run toilet blocks with disabled friendly and baby changing facilities. Details of toilets can be found on the Key Information section of the website.
Medical and Welfare Services
We have a welfare area onsite if you need a chill-out zone or shade.
It will be clearly marked on the site maps that will be erected around the site. There are medical teams onsite.
Assistance Dogs
Service and support animals are welcome at East Coast Pride, they must be kept on a lead at all times and please pick up after them and bring along any food they need and water bowl for them too.
We strongly advise that people don’t bring pet dogs but they aren’t banned. There will be free water refill points onsite. Please note that shade is limited on the site and it can get very hot and crowded.
Access to Performance
Our Main Stage is on a tarmacked carriageway. The stage has been raised up to ensure maximum visibility. We are unable this year to provide a viewing platform but as East Coast Pride grows this is something we would like to provide in the future.
However, if are you struggling to see, please speak to one of our volunteers who may be able to assist.
Deaf Access at Pride
We are unable this year to provide BSL Translation, but as East Coast Pride grows this is something we would like to provide in the future.
Strobe Lighting
There will be no strobe lighting at East Coast Pride. However, there will be stage lighting flashing effects and the use of pyrotechnics.
Seating Area
There are no designated seating areas. You are welcome to bring a chair or deckchair for the Main Stage, but we advise against using them towards the front of the audience. This is for the safety of all attendees during peak points within the day.
Large Print Event Guide
We have large print event guides (A4) available at the East Coast Pride 2024 stall. You can access these on the day and are in a larger font than our standard guide (A5).
