Role Description

East Coast Pride is seeking a Trustee to join our board. East Coast Pride is explicitly looking for trustees with the following experience:
 

  • Financial, Legal and Charity Secretarial

  • Community Engagement and Outreach

  • Fundraising and Grant Applications

  • Sponsorship and Business Development

  • Health, Government Policy and Legislation

This will be Trustee and will be responsible for running, compliance and operations of East Coast Pride as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), a legal structure for charities in England and Wales

The board meets every two months, with the Management Committee meeting fortnightly, and it is anticipated the role will require a commitment of three to fives hours per week, although this can be higher if the post holder chooses to have other operational duties within East Coast Pride.

​

This is an unpaid role. Reasonable expenses, e.g. travel costs will be reimbursed as per East Coast Pride’s Expenses Policy.

At East Coast Pride, our journey began in late 2023 with a vision to create a more inclusive and vibrant community for the LGBTQIA+ individuals and their allies in the coastal regions of Lincolnshire. What started as a grassroots effort by a dedicated group of volunteers has blossomed into a remarkable celebration of diversity and equality.

​

Now, as a Registered Charity, our mission is clear: to advocate, celebrate, and support the LGBTQIA+ community on the East Coast of Lincolnshire. We dream of a future where everyone, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, can flourish in an atmosphere of equality, diversity, and inclusion.

Our approach is rooted in the belief that by emphasising culture, particularly through the arts and sports, we can create a supportive and empowering community where LGBTQIA+ individuals can freely express themselves and embrace their identities. We strive to eliminate barriers and foster understanding, acceptance, and respect for all through creative arts projects, sports events, and community-led initiatives.

Our organisation is built on the foundation of promoting LGBTQIA+ awareness and education, supporting mental health and wellbeing, advocating for equal rights and social justice, and building a stronger community. We are committed to organising Pride events, cultural opportunities, and activities that strengthen the sense of community among LGBTQIA+ individuals and their allies, fostering connections, solidarity, and mutual support within the East Coast region.

At East Coast Pride, we are dedicated to enhancing outcomes, enriching lives, and creating positive experiences for the LGBTQIA+ community. Together, we aim to contribute to a more inclusive and fair society, where everyone feels safe, valued, and included.

East Coast Pride has actively engaged with various organisations including East Lindsey District Council, Skegness Town Council, UK Pride Organisers Network and Consortium LGBT - all of which are supporting East Coast Pride work towards its strategic ambitions.

Key Responsibilities

​

  • To ensure that the organisation complies with legislative and regulatory requirements, acting within the rules set out in its governing document.

  • Trustees must at all times, act in the best interest of the group, keeping its beneficiaries at the forefront of plans.

  • Attempt to promote and develop the organisation in line with its mission and aims.

  • Maintain sound financial management of the organisation’s resources.

  • Together, the trustees must ensure the effective and efficient administration of the organisation and its resources.

  • Trustees may be called upon to as a counter-signatory on cheques and for any funding applications.

  • Maintain confidentiality about all sensitive/confidential information.

  • Use and contribute any specific knowledge or experience to help the group.

  • Attend meetings regularly, making sure to read papers in advance.

  • Regularly attend management meetings as appropriate and endeavour to participate in some other tasks that take place outside of the regular general meetings.
